Pontiac Grand Am 2000 Cranks but wont start

Asked by robert Aug 07, 2024 at 12:03 AM about the 2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Pontiac Grand AM 2000 has sat
for about 4 months, I drive my
motorcycle everywhere. I tried
starting my PGA and it turns over
but will not start. I can hear the fuel
pump kick in, it has plenty of gas to
run. Carb cleaner into the breather
box starts and runs the car for two
seconds, then dies. Checked fuse 37
and it appears to be good. I have
drained my battery trying to start the
car. I'm not a mechanic, but I
thought I'd try getting help in a
forum before buying the help. Thank
you!

I guess next you check for injector pulse , You can borrow a tester from nipa , Probably get a batt charger too

Better get a fuel pressure tester while you’re there. If you have injector pulse then fuel pressure is next. Just cause you hear it run doesn’t mean it working as it should.

Setting four monthes should not bother any thing. Charge the battery overnight. good luck

Definitely a fuel problem. Check for damage to the wiring. If it sat outside mice or squirrels could have moved in and chewed on some of the wiring. Check the crankshaft sensor, they were troublesome to begin with. Of course, check for injector pulse too. Jim
