SVS (service vehicle soon) light comes on when a headlight bulb is burned out. Check out GAOwnersClub.com for headlight removal and install instructions. If you have never changed the bulb, be extra careful with the bulb holder rings. They break if you look at them too hard.

Be careful that the bulb may break while removing it. Use gloves to remove. Also follow the wires back as fare as you can see. Check for broken Ground Wire. I know the Grand Am's had rear bulbs melt down the tail lights and the connectors tend to rust easy. Good Luck

The service light with a wrench symbol is a non emissions light. GM uses this light for oil change (based on oil condition) and headlight issues. The reset process once these are fixed is comical but easy to do. You need to (while car is off) pump gas 1 time & break 1 time; Then turn your key to the on (but not cranked) positions; pump the gas 3 times, press and hold the break 15 seconds; turn the car to off and then crank it and the reset is complete.
These answers is totally irrelevant to the question she is asking. She didn't state that he bulbs are out. She stated that the DAY RUNNING lights FLICKER on and off which causes the svs light to prompt. Im going through the same with my grand am today.
