When I am driving my 2003 Pontiac Gran
Am 6 cylinder and it goes into the next gear
my car jumps hard with each gear.  It is an

Sounds like the engine is not running right, probably needs to be gone over with a tune-up. sounds like the engine is missing on more than one cylinder.

Try draining and filling your Transmission fluid. Add some Lucas Transmission fix http://lucasoil.com/products/transmission- products/lucas-transmission-fix during the refill (make sure you also use the proper type of transmission fluid).
