...well it has to be the right type...a "kielbasa" pump will not work~....so submerged pump....sadly NO one makes a pump that can run dry....so you've gotta have at least a gallon of fuel left when you fire it up for the first time~ https://www.google.com/#q=2003+Pontiac+Grand+Am+fuel+pump

Does this NOT answer your question? There is only one type of pump that will work...hopefully is an American manufacturer and not Chinese (god forbid)~

I have a 1999 grand am I want 2 no can I interchange it from a 2004 impala cause the fuel pump cost $200 and sumthing is there a way I can change them out
