Could this be the water pump?
I have been having an issue with my car overheating. I still get heat from
my vents, but thought it was the thermostat. That was replaced along with
the hoses but the issue continued. I brought it back to the shop, they
checked the fans, cleaned the heater core, checked the belts and said
everything checked out and they thought it may be the water pump, but
weren't sure. It's does not seem to be leaking and the shop said the head
gasket was ok
ask for "block flow"...if they know what that is~
could be a corroded/worn water pump...indeed...if you can grab the pump shaft, and see if it has a "little wiggle" to it....it is worn....seen cases where the vanes of the pump were gone altogether, because a corrosive agent was in the coolant (like Clearlake water)~ so yes...if you can check the flow...and it's flowing and this is of the right age for it to fail~ change the pump~...you're right, considering the age of the vehicle...change it out~

Sorry, I'm not sure if we're related, its a huge family lol. On the car again, doing a bit more research as the water pump had no coolant leaking, and dad still is insisting its not the pump, might it be the overflow losing pressure and coolant boiling out? I'm not leaking anywhere but the coolant is going somewhere lol
yes Tracy...there is a "weep hole" underneath when the bearing gets too worn (sees a lot of duty, turning perhaps 80 times with every rotation)~ so change that~ ...it's routine~!
