We have a 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix se coup
that we just purchased and when you put it
in drive or reverse it dies but after you drive
it around the block it'll stay running and run
fine could you tell me what could possibly
be the problem

When this situation occurs is the engine cold or hot? Cold as in the fuel management system is still open loop or hot as in closed loop? Being as SE a take it that the engine is the 3.1L pushrod & not the 3.4 DOHC engine

i had a 3.1 gt that would do the same thing and it ended up being injectors that were clogged

If cleaning/ replacing injectors doesn't help, replace the Throttle Position Sensor. I just did, and it runs like a different car. Used to die at Stop signs.
