Yes.... How much work are you prepared to do? Fabrication? wiring? why not add a turbo to the engine in the Grand Prix or better yet...install a GTP 3.8 3nd series w/ supercharger....
yes but be prepared. yoour going to have to get both wiring harness diagrams if you plan on using the display of the pontiac. and definitely be prepared to cut and fabricate mounts not only for the motor but also for the tranmission and the rear end. and probably buy power steering hose by the foot. and see if the front end of the pontiac will give you the space that you need for the engine to fit under the hood. your going to have to do a lot just to be able to fit what you want into that car of yours. but then again dropping a 5.0 into a single cab ford ranger was a fun time. it just depends if you can take the stress of constantly doing small adjustments at a time till its just right. i hope you do it because it would be a killer street car. a true sleeper. i plan to put a 5.0 into a 93 civic hatch i now own. so i wish you luck and that it turns out good for you on your adventure man
Go for it!!! or you could just find a 89-91 with the 3.1 turbo and pump up the boost. A Paxton Charger works great on a 3.1 or 3.4 also. DO NOT DUMP A L-67 SC in there. There's a reason GM dropped that horrible excuse for a motor, 228WHP out of a supercharged V-6 is a joke and they constantly need tuning and adjustment to run well. The best swap into a mid 90's w-body is still to drop in a northstar V-8 out of a Cadillac STS. There used to be a company in eastern US that would do that conversion for you with warranty.
The 3.8 Series engines were one of the best engines gm ever produced. thats probably why they used them for 20+ years in tons of different makes and models. as for 228 WHP idk where youre getting your numbers from but it was 240 hp and 280 tq at the CRANK no way it had 228 at the wheels. and yeah they need tuning but only if youre a tupid teenager who runs the piss out of it or if you start modding them. As for the 4.6 N* that engine was shit and always will be. the only good thing that ever came out of the northstar wa their throttle bodys and thats because they work amazing on the L67 and L32's when you start modding. and once again with the 3.8 if you keep them maintained they will run over 250k miles. ive had two that have made it there. and i have many friends who will tell you the same thing
spoken like the owner of a L-67 SC. You may want to parouse a few of the sites like GTP.com or W-Body.com and reset you facts. You of course are welcome to you opinion.
