Alot of of times the struts are warn out and people do not realize. most people keep driving on warn struts for over 100 thousand miles witch ends up waring out your strut mount. there is also a sway bar link back there that would be a cause of making a clunking noise around corners and over bumps. I see it all the time. check your sway bar link and strut mount. ( The strut mount can be accessed from inside your trunk.)

sway bar bushings are neglected a lot, and the rear trailing arms are known to rust out and break. a carefull inspection of both of theses components will likely show what the problem is.
