It might bolt right in if it's the same size motor and tranny. Check with these guys -- http://www.clubgp.com/newforum/default.asp?cookieCheck=882131023 -- http://www.grandprixforums.net/

Your old motor was a 3.8 3800 correct? If so this will be a very simple swap. The motors are exactly identical. The junkyard will tell you they wont work but guess what? They are identical. only different is the upper intake. You will have to swap that over from your old motor. But I would advise putting a brand new aftermarket one on anyways that has the metal sleeve in the coolant port because otherwise the intake plenum will melt and motor will eat coolant and blow up. Prolly what happened to your last one.

in 2004 they switched to the series 3 motor, u can put a series 3 into a series 2 car but u need all the wiring and stuff to go with it. the sub-frame changed also, steel to aluminum not sure if bolt location changed on the 4 corners of the frame though, should be a pretty straight install, only real diff is motor and trans internals. minor fab for bracket changes maybe necessary but nothing a hammer or pry bar and minor skill cant fix. the engine has the same overall dimensions and same with trans, i believe its the same trans as the 6th gen as well just a little diff programming and sensors but if u get a 2004 series 3 harness with computers and everything its a pretty well drop in application

Series 2 and series 3 3800 long blocks are identical. Just need to swap the series 2 upper intake manifold with the throttle body and use your old wiring harness and it will be a direct swap no need to go through all the hassle trying to rewire everything.
