Power steering for a 1998 Grand Prix GTP

Asked by LususNatur Apr 26, 2017 at 07:16 PM about the 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix 2 Dr GTP Supercharged Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So recently, my 1998 Grand Prix GTP has been having some electrical problems, including starting up and staying on. The problem (we were told) was a short near the computer inside the car. Three days later, I lost power steering, but only on the left side. I've already checked and added fluid to the reservoir, but, apparently, that wasn't the problem. The pump WORKS. I can turn right with ease, but turning left is a chore, and the pump doesn't squeal when doing so. So, my question is, could my recent power problems be related, i.e. a faulty sensor?

No, it would have nothing to do with any sensors. There is a problem with the steering, could be in the rack and pinion. Should have a shop take a look at this.
