1998 grand prix GT. Coolant flowing out.

Asked by Alex1411Rosales Oct 25, 2017 at 05:57 PM about the 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix 4 Dr GT Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1998 grand prix GT and I have replaced my radiator and water
pump in the vehicle but my heat is still not working and occasionally I see my
coolant flowing out. I have no coolant in my oil so I don't think it's a cracked
head gasket and the radiator hoses look fine. Any suggestions?
Also, when I tried burping my car coolant started gushing out. Any help with
that too?

Most likely you've got air trapped in the system. Sometimes it is trapped lower down in the engine and so won't bleed out at the bleeder. You may need to drain and refill. I've heard it helps to refill with the car facing uphill, or the front end up on ramps. Shops have special equipment for drawing the air out as it fills so there won't be air pockets.
