2004 grand prix gt

I have a 2004 grand prix gt and my temp gauge goes 1
line past the half way line but goes back down about 40
seconds later. Is this a problem. I took it to a local
mechanic and he said it was fine. It only happens if i drive
it long enough

I've never reconditioned car batteries before but I have 8 old car batteries I would like to use if it's possible to do this. I watched a video of a guy restoring one and it seems he made it work. http://rurl.us/Vd1mv Has anybody done this with success?

It is just indicating your secondary cooling fan turned on and provided additional airflow over the radiator to keep your engine temp down. As Ninja Chicken said, all is good.
