Anyone know whats wrong?

I have a 1999 pontiac grand prix gt 4 dr the ignition
will not move the key slides in an out fine but the
ignition wont turn to on ive tried jiggling steering
wheel, hitting it with a hammer/screwdriver an still
nothing wont budge anyone know the problem?

Look at the bottom of the steering column right under the ignition lock cylinder. You will see a hole. Use a screwdriver or similar tool and put it in the hole then push up. There's a solenoid in there that tends to stick or jam. The emergency release is what I just described. Your key is also worn which is why you can pull it out when the ignition is not locked. That's really not a big deal. Hope that helps! Jim
