Oil pan leak

Asked by KnowsEnoughToGetInTr... Jul 15, 2019 at 04:27 PM about the 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Well I have a 2001 grand prix and it has a oil pan
leak. The shop diagnosed it for me. It's not
huge(maybe adding a quart every couple months
or so between the leak and burning oil). My
question is, I am not really feeling like moving the
motor out if the way to replace the gasket, and am
looking for recommendations in products that will
seal it up for me... High temp caulking or gasket
sealers that will work.

Is there anything that will work? I mean I know it's not the right way to do it... But I'm not putting the money and the work into taking the oil pan off. Kind of a pain on this car. I'm really just thinking of slowing the oil spot it is making on my driveway.

I don't believe in engine oil stop leak products. Use them at your own risk! Buy a drip pan for $5.

and continue to check the oil level weekly and add as needed. Much cheaper that way.
