are you seeing any KR? if so that could be your problem, because with headers intake 3.4 and no tune i was seeing 4-5* of kr until i tuned it.

I have the same problem on a 2000 gt with a 3.8. No idea what a kr is... Not much of a mechanic myself, but i hate bringing it in blind. any ideas?

KR, Knock Retard is the engine pulling timing due to it sensing pre-detonation in your cylinders. for the OP it's more likely since he has a modded engine, but for you if you NA and stock it most likely just needs a tune-up.
