Why is speedometer buried?

I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix. I
was driving and my car temp started
to get high. At the same time, my
speedometer needle buried
itself....any reasons...??

Start with a few basics. Make sure your cooling system is full. Check your transmission fluid to make sure its full and that it doesn't smell burnt. Then scan for trouble codes and see what the car's computer has to say. Hopefully that will give you some direction. Don't start spending money on parts and repairs until you've actually identified the problem.
