I have just put in a new alternator on my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix How do I get my serpentine belt tight again? I used the belt tensioner when I originally removed the old alternator.

Unless you have taken the tensioner off while replacing the alternator, the belt should slip over it when you apply pressure to it and tighten the belt as it returns to its normal position. If it does not, I would double check your belt routing - you may have missed a pulley when reassembling.

IT COULD BE THE BELT TENSIONER SPRING IS WEAK, & YOU MIGHT HAVE TO GET A NEW ONE. {COST SHOULD BE FROM $25 TO $55, ALSO CHECK THE ROUTING, MAKING SURE THE GROOVED PART OF THE BELT IS GOING INTO THE GROOVED PART OF THE PULLEY{S}
