2003 Grand Prix getting low Amps to resistor

Asked by Greg0828 Mar 28, 2019 at 04:58 PM about the 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Blower motor would only work on 5. Replaced the
blower motor resistor but it did not fix the problem.
All fuses I can find are good. Checked amps
coming out of resistor and on 1 through 4 show
less than an amp. 5 position reads zero. I checked
the plug that goes into the resistor from wiring
harness and they read less than an amp. Could it
be the control module or is there a relay between
the module and the pig tale that plugs into the
resistor?  Also when you turn the control on you
can hear a click under the divers side dash.

Note the diagram, did you check fuse, upper left? Not only check the fuse, use a test light and check voltage at the fuse, goes hot with key on. The fuse on the right is only for hi speed. The wire colors for lower speeds, yellow--tan--lite blue--purple. Set the speed, other than hi, note the corresponding wire color, use a test lite and check for voltage. If no voltage with it turned on, may be the fuse or control module. I can only help with testing. I didn't pay any attention to your post about the amps, sorry my bad. Just trying to help, the only way I know how. good luck
