I wld like to knw about the Ecm reset

Hi my question is i got 2003 pontiac grand prix tht i
think it has a ecm unit issue cause the car want  
crank  an i recently had the car battery
disconnected for a min an i just recently hooked jt
bck up an wld like to knw will it erase all the
memory off the ecm an do it have to be
reprogramed
