2005 Grand Prix coolant fans not working

2005 Grand Prix base 100,500 mile The a/c
does not turn on the fans. The temp gauge on
the dash is correct well seems to be in
correlation with a the reading from a infrared
thermometer, the relays are good(swapped
with others) also jumped all 3 relays
separately and each time the corresponding
fan worked accordingly. I have hardwired 12v
to both fans have got them both to turn on.  I
replaced the radiator and hoses, thermostat
and housing, coolant temp sensor. Water
pump and serpentine belt.


Still in stop and go traffic it without air it willl
eventually overheat, regardless if heat or ac is
on.the system is bled of air and filled with
correct coolant.

Is it possible I bought I bad ect sensor from
the store and it only is sending to the gauge
and not to the relays considering I can jumpe
them to come on?

You need to find the wire that provides voltage when the a/c is turned on. Your probably going to have to get a wiring diagram.

It is unlikely, but possible that you got a defective sensor. It would certainly have been cheaper to rule that out first rather than replacing your entire cooling system in hope of somehow fixing an electrical problem. I agree, a wiring diagram might guide you. A few dollars spent at a shop that specializes in auto electrical repairs would probably be money well spent at this point, especially if you want it fixed sooner rather than later.
