05 Pontiac Grand Prix

Asked by David Nov 20, 2017 at 08:23 PM about the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 05 pontiac grand prix base (3.8 v6) and the
engine just went bad on me. Wanted to know if id be able
to swap it to an 05 Gtp engine. Would their be extra work
other than reprogramming the computer?

Yes there will be lots of extra work. You’ll need the two stage fuel pump, the heavy duty transmission and all the electronics out of a GTP, plus a ton of labor to put it all together. Why wouldn’t you simply buy a GTP?
