PRIOR ACCIDENT

Asked by Kratmiser Mar 07, 2011 at 12:51 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

The 2006 Grand Prix i'm looking at has 73,000 miles and the car fax showed that it was in a prior accident. The Dealer (which has a good rep) doesnt know the extent of it but said that they put it on the lift in the shop and the frame appeared to be not compromised in any way. The car fax showed that the car was driven another 20,000 miles before being traded in...I test drove it and it was smooth and tight... I am not a pro,  should i have any concerns?

The best thing you can do when buying a car is take it to a mechanic you know personally and trust and have him look it over. If the seller won't let you take it to your mechanic, don't even consider buying it.

if the frame is good that is a good sign... but the mileage & model year means u need to do maintenance as soon as u buy it. it nearly time for a timing chain and replacing the rubber hoses. i'd replace the sparkplugs & 0xygen sensor too.
