2006 Pontiac Grand Prix. Cooling fans won't start.

Asked by Bill3018 Nov 01, 2016 at 01:58 AM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Fans only come on when I turn on AC. I
checked all relays and fuses, all are good.
Fans will not turn on when engine gets hot.
The coolant has boiled over into overflow
also. Even when needle is just above
midway on temp gauge. Any suggestions?

Replace Ignition Temperature Sensor. Carefull because it's similar to temperature switch. It should be located on the head or on radiator. You can tell by disconnecting one at a time, the one that reads temperature on the gauge is not, it's the otherone

I'll swap that out. Thanks. Is this the same as coolant temp sensor. That's what keeps popping up when I do a search. It's located under my thermostat.

Disconnect it and see if that affects the temperature gauge in ur dash, if it is, it's the wrong one, look for another similar sensor on the head or the radiator

I have the same problem, replaced the coolant temp sensor, still will not turn on! The fans run fine with the A/C on so the fans should be operational. Any other things to check?
