Crank case / Oil dip stick reads over

Asked by Steven Aug 04, 2019 at 11:03 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Pull my dipstick after sitting all
weekend,  the level was way over
topped off. And it wasn't oil color
it was a reddish color,  and it's
due for oil change a month ago.
It's got 111.000 miles

So its coolant has possibly
gotten into my crank case??? Is
fix easy?

Intake gasket sets are common on these cars so yes if the oil is a funky color or looks like coffee cappuccino yes oil is contaminated. Labor time in your driveway about 3.5 -4 hrs. 3.8 series 3 have a plastic elbow under alt side of manifold that is recomened to replace at same time. Hope that helps.

Are you sure you did not check the transmission fluid by mistake?

Still worrisome if it showed over filled but the trans needs to be checked with the car warmed up and the trans "excercised' a bit. I agree with FOR, you probably grabbed the wrong dip stick. Look again.

Dude, I grabbed the OIL not the tranny. There coolant in the crank shaft AND the block is cracked !! She's going off the cliff and watch it BURN !
