Question type: Maintenance & Repair

HAVE A 1990 VETTE WITH A PRETTY GOOD KINK IN THE MAST. MOTOR OPERATES FINE AND GOES UP, BUT WON'T GO ALL THE WAY DOWN, FROM THE BEND DAMAGE. CAN THE MAST ONLY BE REPLACED ?  OR, IS IT BETTER TO CHANGE THE WHOLE UNIT, WHILE I'M AT IT ?  ANYBODY ?  THANKS..... KMAC.

The mast can be the only part that has to be replace, but, if you don't want to take the risk go for the whole unit because you might have the same issue later on.
