I need to replace the antenna and bought a universal antenna, but when trying to replace it. the plastic piece that holds the radio power cord and screw in and antenna won't open or doesnt appear to have a way to open it. How do I open this piece?

Hello, I'm trying to find you an answer for this question. To which car are you referring? Thanks CarGrrl
Because the Corvette is made of fiberglass, there was a metal strip added under the fender where the antenna attaches. It has to be grounded to the frame to complete the electric current. Make sure your ground is there and has a clean connection. I think that was your question. I am not sure from your wording what the true issue is. I believe the power antenna was an option, so make sure the antenna you are replacing is a power antenna, if not your radio is not made to send a signal to the antenna to open when turned on and close when turned off.
