Subaru Forester Engine Swap

Asked by bair_in_the_forester... Dec 14, 2018 at 03:41 AM about the 2004 Subaru Forester XT

Question type: Car Customization

I was just wondering if anyone has seen or done an engine swap on a 2004
Subaru Forester XT. I am looking at putting in a 2014 fg xr6 t motor. It comes
with the ecu, wiring loom, tuned ZF and a trans cooler. Just looking for any
helpful tips especially surrounding transmission.

My helpful tip is to not attempt such a swap. The cost will greatly exceed the value of your car if you ever get it to run.

I do understand that it will be difficult, however I have had my heart set on doing this swap for quite some time. Being as my car isn't worth all that much at the moment and all my mechanical problems seem to be occurring in the motor, I decided this was an effective way of both improving my car having some fun. I do not want to sell my car either. I have all the necessary equipment available (as far as I can tell) and some knowledgable(ish) buddies to help me out. I have other cars that I am able to use while attempting the swap. I am just looking for any helpful tips that can be provided for when I do it. Thanks
