What can I do to my car to make it faster?

Asked by Kyze Mar 14, 2018 at 09:43 AM about the 1998 Subaru Impreza L Sedan AWD

Question type: Car Customization

I just bough the Subaru Impreza Sedan 4 door 1.6L.I love the car but I can't afford
much.I travel around 500km per 2 weeks to go to university-home.I'm a student on a
budget.I'm new to the car community.

Any advice I'd take to heart as long as it's not "get a new car, weak subie" or so on.I
love the car that's why I got it.
How much can I push the engine in regards to horse power/torque/etc and the car
itself overall

It seems to me that should concern yourself with your education, which will pay big later in life. Let the car take you around the way it does now. Making alterations almost always end up costing money and giving you head aches with the car, not to mention that more power means higher fuel consumption.

Does anyone know such forums for subies?and i'm asking for the advice because my parents said they'll get me some polo to travel to uni and i was planning on tuning the subaru but got no clue where to start or how it will turn out and what kind of hp can I push outta the 1.6 engine

The old 1.6i is a wimp; that said leave it alone or chase a used 2.2i that'll swap in easily. Cheaper than modding and ending up with a disaster.

Could have had different internals from a engine rebuild. I'd lean towards an engine swap, but you could throw a charger on super low boost to give it abit more pick up if you don't care about the engine throwing a rod or gasket
