06 avalanche exhaust clunk

Asked by Slimschevy Dec 31, 2016 at 03:47 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 LS 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 06 avalanche  that just started making a
clunking noise  appears to be coming from the
exhaust between the manifold and resinator or
catalytic converter . When i give it a little gas the
noise stops then starts back up when it returns to
an idle. Any odeas on what it may be ?  Thought
maybe a broken 02sensor but the dummy light isnt
on maybe the internals of the cat. Or resinator  are
loose?

Just have to put it on a hoist or jack it up to pinpoint what is causing the noise. Sure it could be in the cat but I can't suggest you just go out and buy one. You would have to have it put on anyway. So best bet is to just go to an exhaust shop to have it looked at.
