Clutch problems with a 92 Subaru Legacy

Asked by Thomj8 Jun 21, 2018 at 09:58 PM about the 1992 Subaru Legacy L Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just replaced the clutch on my 92 Legacy. While
everything seemed to go alright in the reassembly
my clutch petal now as soon as you press it sticks
to the floor. Tore everything apart and put
everything back together smooth as silk this time
and still have the same problem.

Did you bleed the hydraulics? If the system has a return spring is it hooked up?

No hydraulics all cable. And I never disconnected any return return spring. Is there a return spring that I somehow lost without knowing it inside the bell housing?

I would think the spring would be external. I would expect one at the clutch pedal.

I will have to check to see if there is a spring problem on the petal tomorrow. Cable pulls clean just no return on the petal. Haven't fired it up to see if clutch is engaging yet because of this petal problem but never disconnected any springs

If I remember correctly there's an internal spring holding the release fork. I'm sorry, but I fear you have to drop it down again.
