I have a 2006 cobalt, lock cylinder gets stuck, car will still turn on and off

Asked by Mo_D May 29, 2020 at 12:36 AM about the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My cobalt makes a beeping noise as if the car door is open when the key is out
of the ignition. The key will still turn off and on the car, but when I turn off the
car I can feel that it won't make that clicking noise, it gets stuck, which is
causing that noise as if the door is open with the key in the ignition, but the key
is not. How could I fix it, do I have to replace the ignition?

I own a 2010 cobalt myself. I've been looking at problems with the cars and it would seem the ignition and power steering are two main issues. I don't believe you can repair it you will likely need to replace it. Howe

Sorry, however there have been recalls on the car's and it maybe possible to have it fixed that way. Wish I new more hope this helped some, God Bless.
