Apparently thing are not working. I would first check to see if the compressor clutch engages when you turn the AC on.
There's probably a tiny leak somewhere and all the refrigerant has leaked out. If you recharge it it will work for a while until it leaks out again. It's unlikely that simply recharging it will fix it. If you want air, you'll need to take it to a shop and have it looked at.
