My 06 cobalt Check engine light is on. Put scanner on it and read no codes. Any thoughts?

I am going to go out on a limb here, but I don;t think it is possible to get a light with no code. I would surmise that you need to have it scanned with a better scanner. sometimes the do it yourselfer ones don;t do the trick.
