2006 awd equinox-trouble starting when it rains or goes thru car wash

Asked by Carol Oct 09, 2014 at 04:57 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox LS AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2006 awd equinox, I sometimes and now all the time whenever it rains or sits outside overnight with the dampness, when I go to start it I will hear click click and nothing. I then turn off the key and wait a second after I pump the gas peddle twice then try again, then it almost starts then repeat the step again and then it turns over but I have to give it gas.  All summer when I went to start it, it seems like the voltage drops from a zoom in starting then it drops down and have to give it a little gas.  HELP!!!!  Thanks

You may have battery issues. A bad cell could be causing this. You also should check your charging system to make sure it is charging the battery when the vehicle is running. Have someone check the starter connections to make sure they are clean and tightly connected.
