2000 2.5 engine swap

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 outback 2.5l engine with automatic
trans. I want to put this engine in a 2000 outback
with a manual trans. Are the crankshafts different?

The crankshaft makes no difference. But you will have to change from flex-plate to flywheel. The automatic uses a flex-plate that torque converter is bolted on to, and the manual needs the heavy flywheel for the clutch pressure plate.

I wasn't sure if the crank on an auto was drilled for the clutch pilot. Some vehicles have 2 different cranks, depending on trans style. Thanks.
