How do I find out if my 2001 Outback has side impact bags? Can they be added?

Asked by David Jan 21, 2013 at 11:36 PM about the 2001 Subaru Outback Base Wagon

Question type: General

I do not have the full manual that came with the car when new. I believe it is the base wagon. If it does not have side impact bags, can they be added?

If you have side air bags, the trim would be labeled at their locations. I would not think that they could be added. Air bag systems are complex and can be dangerous -- not many people want to work with them. Nobody would want to try adding additional bags. --- Call your dealer - get an estimate - that is if they would assume the liability associated with the job.
