The steering in our Outback seems loose, particularly when driving over rough roads. Have you heard of this problem before and, if so, know what the problem may be/

There are a variety of front end suspension problems that could cause loose steering. I would take a hard look at the inner and outer tie rod ends and the associated bushings. These are directly tied to the steering rack and can cause loose or sloppy steering, especially over bumps. Another possible culprit would be suspension-related components that could be amplifying the normal steering noises and bumps. Check front shocks or struts to see if they are worn out. Also check lower ball joints for play.

I had my stabilizer bar - arms extensions and bushings and sway bar bushings replaced. 2017 Outback 3.6 - a known issue - on warranty but about an $800 CND job otherwise. It still is jittery over small bumps - the problem is not as bad, but there is still a problem. I have 33,000 km on the car. Pretty embarrassing for Subaru. I'm not impressed.

I have weird noises in reverse, while turning the wheel and pressing on the brakes. Not normal.
