H6 fuel requirements

I'm not able to find any specific information about the Subaru H6 engine fuel requirements on the internet. I'm sure regular unleaded is fine!
I have three Subaru's, two are the H6 3.0L. They require premium, they will run on regular but they perform and run cleaner with prem. Run the mileage...it is about the same payout, you lose mpg with regular and gain 2mpg with premium. I drive about 40,000+/year. bigtipper

You can hang it up towing anything if you use anything less than 91 octane. No power.
I have an H6 3.0... it requires premium. Totally agree with "Big Tipper" the payout at the pump is the same since the mileage reduces significantly. The real problem is... Why is the power reduced running lower octane fuel. Answer: Detonation / Pre-Ignition! Which will kill your engine overtime. Detonation is when your fuel air mixture explodes in your cylinder before the piston reaches top dead center. This pre-ignition tries to turn your engine crank backwards. Not good at all. Strongly suggest to use the proper fuel for your engine.
