winter tire swap

I am trying to save money and use some
tires I had for a vehicle i sold. They are
205/55/r16 cooper winters and my wifes
car is a 02 subaru outback ll bean edition.
It says the stock is 225/60/r16, she
currently has 215/60/r16 on there now.
Would it be fine to use the 205/55 on the
outback?

I would not use the 205/55 tires as they will be a lot shorter than your current tires. About 1 1/4". You could use them but you will lose ground clearance and you will have less rubber on the road meaning less traction. https://tiresize.com/calculator/
Thinner tires will have more pressure on the contact patch in snow. I would wait until a week before snow is expected. Or do you only have one set of rims?
No the 205/55's are on their own rims so I could change them out with an easy changeover. I guess i will get them on there, see how they look clearance wise, feel with and without snow and go from there. Appreciate it!
yeah I mean, it'll change your speed/rpm/gearing/mpg which is why I say wait until it's about to snow. Last question is.. do they have the same bolt pattern? That seems more like an impreza/legacy size but it could be anything. I have an all year set and a snow set for my forester. I've gotten 3 seasons out of them and they're probably still at 75-90% tread..
