If the motor is the same, make sure the bolt on items will fit and work. Motor mounts, transmission, EFi system, and all others should be a cross over fit. It wouldn't hurt to stop into the specialty parts shop and ask. they have the book that will tell.

If THE MOTOR YOU ARE WANTING TO PUT IN IS A VVT MOTOR AND THE ONE YOU ARE TAKING OUT ISN'T, THEN YOU WON'T HAVE PLUGS FOR YOUR VVT SYSTEM (VARIABLE,VALVE ,TIMING) JUST DONE MY 2008HHR, WITH 2010 VVT MOTOR DIDN'T HAVE, PLUGS BUT SHE RUNS THOUGH !!!! WITH A LITTLE MISS !!!!! GONNA TRY HOOKING VVT SYSTEM THROUGH OIL GAUGE !!!!

What was needed to swap it over to VVT? I installed a VVT engine before I realized it.
