I have a 2004 Subaru Outback with the 3 l engine. Is it possible to get a 2.5 engine that would fit?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm looking for an engine that is rebuilt or used in good condition to fit my 2004
Subaru Outback. Ours has blowback issues and we can't seem to find a 3 l
engine that's rebuilt or used to replace it.
Would a 2.5 fit? From any Subaru model?
I just want my little car back...it's almost paddling season.

Since the 2.5L 4 was an option it should be possible. Use the correct 4 banger for your year and get the ECU and wiring harness along with it. I would recommend getting a donor Outback so you can use the exhaust system too.
