There is a slight but audible knock coming from the engine when it is idleling!? I just picked up the car yesterday ... concerned it maybe something serious that is just beggining to developpe

very low knocking noise ... heard when idleling.  When I open the hood ... you hear what I would call a "clicking" noise.

Could be as simple as a valve lifter that is sticking, a slight exhaust leak, or possibly a bearing in one of the engine accessory pulleys like alternator beginning to go out. You don't mention where it is coming from specifically, left or right of engine, etc. Then again, it may be nothing, could just be normal sound of fuel injectors chattering.
