I have a Chevrolet Impala Lt 2006 and I checked the transmission fluid and it green I was wondering why it green?

Color typically helps identify different types of fluid. When you investigate a leak, the color of the fluid may tip you off to what is dripping. I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure you use trans fluid that meets Chevy's spec if you change or add fluid.

It like a green tint color so it's OK it nothing bad or anything I'm just wondering if my chevy impala Lt uses a special kind of transmission fluid

Same here, never seen green color in trany fluid. Your car takes Dexron Vl and is red in color. Someone trying to help you out and put antifreeze into the trany? I would get it drained asap. and new trany filter. There is no way antifreeze can cross over into the trany, if it is antifreeze.

I have done some research and there are some green colored transmission fluids but they are used in CVT's and in some ZF transmissions used in German cars. I can't find any reference to Dexron in green.

Anti-freeze can come in contact with ATF at the radiator if there is a leak at the transmission cooler.

Where did you get the trans serviced last? You might want to ask them about it.

Forgot about that cooling tank in the radiator, You think oil would be in the cooling system if it where leaking?

It is a possibility that it could go both ways. It just depends on how much pressure there is.

Check the radiator pressure if there is any leak showing replacethe radiator and drain the tans fluid and trans filter needs to be replaced
