Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A seeker is selling this car for $600 with a slight
rod knock. His brother the mechanic can do for
$200 . what is the cost if I need to replace or
repair?

Fixing one rod bearing probably will not make the engine run much farther. I would pass.

So why doesn't his brother the mechanic fix the rod knock and then they can sell the car for more than 600? I'll tell you why, it's going to cost a lot more than 200 to repair a rod knock, and who knows what else that motor is suffering from. The owner is trying to dump this onto a sucker. Run from this one.

His brother is full of crap. The problem with the engine can not fully be determined until it is taken apart. Avoid this vehicle.
