I've seen some whacked-out trailer pulls by some pretty small vehicles, pulling is not so much of a problem as stopping. On my 04 2WD 4.2L LS I've got a factory installed Class III hitch, which I have used to pull around a 6x12 U-Haul trailer several times with a full load, though I'm not sure how much weight I had on it, maybe 3000 lbs plus the trailer weight. I didn't have any problems. Check this list to get an idea of the loads your hitch can handle, I would strongly advise that you not exceed the weight limit of your factory hitch. I personally would not have much problem with how long the trailer is as long as the weight does not exceed GTW of my Truck/Hitch combination. Trailer Hitch Classification Class I 2,000 pounds GTW Class II 3,500 pounds GTW Class III 5,000 pounds GTW Class IV 7,500 pounds GTW Class V 10,000 pounds GTW GTW=Gross Trailer Weight (including car or boat together, if applicable)
