Vibrating/shaking problem

Asked by Brennan Feb 27, 2016 at 12:59 AM about the 2002 Toyota 4Runner SR5

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Toyota 4Runner. It has
188,000 miles on it I ised as an everyday
vehicle I've only had your average repairs
done to it. Every time I accelerate even the
slightest bit, the entire vehicle starts
shaking really bad but when I come to a
complete stop there's no noise or
anything. Any ideas of what the problem
might be?

Check your CV axles/joints, they can cause shaking to a vehicle when accelerating and driving at highway speeds.

Check your center axle support bearing. It takes a pro 20 min to change out and the part is 60-130. Also, change out your u-joints on your axle - all of them. They are worn out at that mileage. Find a reasonable mechanic...those are not difficult jobs or terribly time consuming.
