03 4 runner starts but quickly dies after rpm gets to low

Asked by michael Jun 12, 2017 at 05:24 PM about the 2003 Toyota 4Runner SR5

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can anyone tell me why my 03 4 runner sr5
4.7 v8 will start and crank and then
immediately go dead. This only occured a
couple days after the battery went bad and I
had to have it jumped off. It will continue to
run as long as I am giving it gas and
sometimes will continue to run at extremely
low rpm until it  finally stalls. Ive tested the
alternator and it seems to be working fine. I
am completely lost at this point. Please
help.
