My teenage son is driving a '95 Avalon and is everything is going well, but the headlights will not turn off when you turn off car and get out. When you disconnect battery and reconnect they don't come back on until you start the car, but again they will not turn off. Any suggestions?

Does it have a setting on head light switch that will take it off of automatic? Are you sure it has automatic head lights? Also headlight relay could be going bad.

You might consider leaving them be..and see what happens.....Avalons have a feature that the headlights will remain on for 2 or 3 minutes to allow you to see to get from car to home or garage door, then they will go off. Just a guess. If they don't go off in, say, 3 minutes back to dandyouns excellent answer...mine is a shot in the dark ...no pun intended
