Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My tach is @over 2000 when I hit the gas
from a stop but the speedometer is @ like
10 mph so my tach is running too high and
could be wearing the engine and wasting
gas. How do I fix this problem as I'm
supposed to be getting 21 miles per gallon
city and 29 hywy and I'm not getting that the
console computed I have 19 miles per gallon
average

so rpms stay at or near 2000. does it do it just in the mornin or all the time? check engine on?

City driving will yield low fuel economy. I don't see anything abnormal about the engine speed in your description. If you think the transmission is slipping have a good transmission shop check it out.
