what is the meaning of the following abbreviations which have just displayed on my toyota avalon 2004 dashboard? VSC and TRAC OFF?

Yes, sounds like a problem with your traction control, I would suggest having this checked out by a dealership. VSC = vehicle stability control.

Gas cap problems. Most likely loose gas cap or the seal isn't clean.

2003 avalon with svc and track off lights Solution: took a bit of gear oil on a paper towl and wiped the seal on the gas cap and on the car side, turned the car on, no more lights
